Giuseppe Raviola, MD

Dr. Giuseppe Raviola is the Director of the Chester M. Pierce, MD Division of Global Psychiatry at Mass General Brigham, Co-Director of Mental Health for Partners In Health (PIH), and Associate Professor of Psychiatry in the Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Raviola has focused on the delivery (planning, service implementation and sustained supply) of comprehensive, effective mental health services, and the clinical innovation needed to advance the field of global health to adequately incorporate mental healthcare delivery. He has established an innovative cross-site mental health program at PIH, an international health care organization with 18,000 staff working across 11 countries. He has supported the development of mental health service delivery platforms, and the establishment of a cross-site learning collaborative in mental health care delivery, across Haiti, Peru, Mexico, Rwanda, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Malawi, Lesotho, Russia, Kazakhstan and the US. Over the past decade he and his colleagues have demonstrated the feasibility of community-based programs that provide complex care in challenging environments.

At the Division of Global Psychiatry, Dr. Raviola has extended his work at PIH by training medical students and psychiatry residents and contributed to mental health capacity building at academic medical centers in Africa. He is also a leader in the field ofdisaster readiness both domestically and globally.

Dr. Raviola received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and a public health degree from the Harvard T.H Chan School of Public Health. He is a practicing child and adolescent psychiatrist and a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association.
