Dr. Christy A. Denckla is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and a Research Fellow at the Stanley Center for Psychiatric Research at Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard whose work focuses and risk and resilience following exposure to adversity.

As a postdoctoral fellow, Dr. Denckla aims to investigate the genetic architecture of PTSD and neurodevelopmental disorders in African and European populations.

Dr. Denckla is a clinical psychologist whose work focuses on factors that are associated with risk and resilience following exposure to potentially traumatic events, how genes influence risk for PTSD and neurodevelopmental disorders in women and their children, and culturally-sensitive instruments for assessing psychological and psychiatric constructs. She has published over 15 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, and presented over 25 papers and posters at national and international conferences.

Dr. Denckla completed her clinical internship at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School where she pursued a specialization in assessment and treating PTSD in under resourced settings. Her doctoral research was completed at Adelphi University in New York. Dr. Denckla currently lives in Nairobi, Kenya.
