Title: John Jackson Wins Best Paper in the Journal Epidemiology

Dr. John Jackson and his collaborator, Dr. Sonja Swanson, have been awarded the 2016 Kenneth Rothman Epidemiology Prize. Drs. Jackson and Swanson won the prize for the best paper in the journal Epidemiology in 2015 for their manuscript, “Toward a Clearer Portrayal of Confounding Bias in Instrumental Variable Applications.” The article argues that standard methods for evaluating confounding in instrumental variable analyses may be insufficient and suggest using bias plots as alternatives for better accuracy.

One of the past winners of the award is Global Division collaborator, Michelle Williams, the Dean of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

Dr. Jackson was a former fellow at the MGH Division of Global Psychiatry and Boston Medical Center and recently joined the faculty at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
