Title: Dr. David Henderson wins Harvard Catalyst grant on schizophrenia
In January 2016, Dr. David Henderson was awarded a pilot grant from the Harvard Catalyst Clinical and Translational Science Center. The grant supports collaboration with the OPTICS program to analyze publicly available clinical trial data on schizophrenia from Janssen Pharmaceuticals and also the National Institutes of Mental Health.
Dr. Henderson will work with Drs. John Jackson, Yerby Postdoctoral Fellow at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, and Linda Valeri, Assistant Biostatistician at McLean Hospital, to adapt statistical diagnostics developed by Dr. Jackson, that describe study dropout, its relation to assigned treatment, and patient characteristics. These will be used to assess how liable the study results are to bias, guide statistical decision-making to remove the bias, and assess how well certain statistical methods perform in reducing this bias. This work has the potential to greatly aid the transparent reporting and analysis of randomized trials in schizophrenia.
