Event Title: International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies Annual Meeting

Location: Sheraton Dallas Hotel, Dallas, Texas

Description: Trauma and trauma-related disorders are significant public health issues that require interdisciplinary approaches including epidemiology, biostatistics and health services research. Advances in assessment, treatment and prevention efforts and knowledge translation are of critical importance if we are to increase public awareness and de- stigmatize trauma-related disorders. The use of innovative technology is now closely tied to public health strategies. Through modern technologies, media and internet usage, knowledge translation is increasing and research has a greater impact on clinical practice just as practice is informing the research agenda. Improvement of information flow and communication between researchers and clinicians is being seen across the world. Innovative technologies are also being used in treatment and research as in the case of neurofeedback, ambulatory momentary assessments methods and virtual reality therapies. Also, new clinical tools such as e-health, online therapy and supervision have improved the speed and quality of treatment. The ISTSS 32nd annual meeting is an ideal platform to demonstrate recent advances in the two related fields of public health and innovative technology and how they can be used to improve recovery from trauma-related disorders.
